Who is Jessica Ashleigh Pomeroy?
Jessica is a Creative Producer, Director and Teaching Artist located in Astoria, Queens, New York City. She holds a BFA in Dramatic Arts with a concentration in Directing from The New School of Drama.
With a background as a musical theatre performer, Jessica has a passion for musical theatre work that promotes accessibility for audiences and artists, representation of diverse artists, and has a connection to relevant issues. She believes that theatre is an educational tool that uplifts the stories that need to be told so they may reach those who need to hear them.
Jessica was the Co-Artistic Director of HERE WE GO until Fall 2020. While there, she co-produced two in-person festivals featuring the work of primarily female-identifying emerging artists and acted as lead producer on four online short plays festivals during the COVID-19 pandemic. She also worked as a General Manager with The Miranda Theatre Company on a production in 2018. Jessica has directed and assistant directed shows at The New School of Drama, Dixon Place, The Writopia Worldwide Plays Festival, and New York Summerfest. As a teaching artist, Jessica has done work with mainstages Educational Theatre Company, Writopia, and Wingspan Arts. In Summer 2020, she directed a fully staged, socially-distant production of Willy Wonka Jr.
Jessica now works as an independent creative producer and freelance teaching artist in New York City. Currently, she is in pre-production for a new online festival that will allow artists to present work that reflects on the events of the year 2020. She is also the current Development Fellow at HERE Arts Center in Hudson Square, NYC.
Jessica is currently studying for her MA in Arts Administration at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.
